AppEnhancer - Export/print failure with multi-page TIFFs when using PDF format
n some AppEnhancer environments, exporting or printing a document that contains a multi-page TIFF fails when Use PDF Format is selected. This behavior was reproduced in AE 22.2 and AE 24.4, so it was not isolated to one version
- Multi-page TIFF → Export as PDF = fails AppEnhancer 22.2 p9 - Issue with Export/PrintAppEnhancer 22.2 p9 - Issue with Export/Print
- Multi-page TIFF → Export as TIFF = works AppEnhancer 22.2 p9 - Issue with Export/PrintAppEnhancer 22.2 p9 - Issue with Export/Print
- Single-page TIFF → Export as PDF = works AppEnhancer 22.2 p9 - Issue with Export/PrintAppEnhancer 22.2 p9 - Issue with Export/Print
- A temporary workaround was to export only a page range that excluded at least one page from the multi-page TIFF; exporting the full TIFF caused failure AppEnhancer 22.2 p9 - Issue with Export/PrintAppEnhancer 22.2 p9 - Issue with Export/Print
Cause
The final resolution showed this was not just a missing patch issue. Patch 11 for AE 22.2 was required, but the customer’s Rendering Service account configuration was also preventing the fix from taking effect. When the service was configured with the username@domain format, export/print continued to fail. Changing the Rendering Service to Local System or using the traditional domain\username format resolved the issue .
Resolution
- Apply the required AppEnhancer patch for the affected version.
- AE 22.2 → Patch 11
- Review the Rendering Service logon configuration.
- If the service is using username@domain, change it to either:
- Local System, or
- domain\username
- Restart the Rendering Service and retest export/print using a full multi-page TIFF
Notes for Support
- The issue may look like a patch failure even when the correct patch is installed.
- If the customer reports Patch 11 did not help, verify the Rendering Service account format before escalating further 1.
- This ticket was closed after the customer confirmed exports were working once the service configuration was corrected 2.
