# Tungsten (Kofax) Capture - Error Reboot Pending: You must reboot your system to continue the Capture installation

## While installing Kofax Capture / Ascent Capture, you may encounter the following error: "Reboot Pending: You must reboot your system to continue the Capture installation"

**Applies to versions:**   
All

**Resolution:**  
1\. Create a complete backup of your system.  
2\. Locate the following Registry Key:  
•    HKEY\_LOCAL\_MACHINE\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Session Manager  
3\. Delete any "PendingFileRenameOperationn" - Example: Name PendingFileRenameOperation Type REG\_MULTI\_SZ Data: filepaths  
4\. You may also need to check for and remove Pending File Rename Operations in the following Registry Keys:  
•    HKEY\_LOCAL\_MACHINE\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\RunOnce  
•    HKEY\_LOCAL\_MACHINE\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\RunOnceEx  
•    ​​​​​​​HKEY\_LOCAL\_MACHINE\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\RunServicesOnce  
•    HKEY\_CURRENT\_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\RunOnce  
•    HKEY\_LOCAL\_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Session Manager

**If the problem persists, try the following steps:** 

1.   Either clear out the TEMP and TMP folders specified in the User Environment Variables OR Change the User's TEMP and TMP Environment Variables to point to a new (empty) temp folder with full permission.  
2.   Check for the existence of a folder named "$!$!$!$!" in the root folder, as well.  
Afterwards you can start the installation again and the error message should no longer appear.
