# Resolve a SQL Server JDBC driver error in OTS 25.4 scripts

## A script runs successfully when executed manually in Designer but fails when run through OTS Manager. The reported issue involves SQL Server JDBC driver loading; the resolution note addresses a “no suitable driver” error.

 Resolution

### 1. Verify the JDBC JAR location

Confirm that the SQL Server JDBC JAR is present in the directory expected by the engine’s classpath. The resolution note lists the typical location as:

```

Use the configured third-party JAR location for the instance if it differs.

### 2. Restart the engine after adding the JAR

If you added the JAR while the engine was running, restart the engine. Driver registration occurs at JVM startup; adding the JAR to a running instance does not register it.

**Operational precaution:** Coordinate the restart with your system administrator to avoid interrupting active processing.

### 3. Explicitly load the driver in the script

Before calling `getConnection`, explicitly load the SQL Server JDBC driver rather than relying on automatic registration:
